LCA is an academic cooperative, not a tuition-based program, so each family will be assigned service roles for the community. The faithful fulfillment of service is essential to the proper functioning of our community. Every effort will be made to utilize the special giftings of each family that best helps meet the needs of the community. We offer classes from PreK - High School.
LCA uses a classical approach to education. The classical approach is rooted in the ancient worlds of Greece and Egypt, developed into a pedagogy during the Middle Ages by Martianus Capella, championed by both Christian and secular scholars alike over the past one hundred years, and upheld by many of the world's scholars today. Children learn in three stages: Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric.
The work of classical educators is to guide their students through the contemplation of great texts and works of art, "believing that such contemplation will enable them to grow in wisdom and virtue," as well as to guide them in the analysis of ideas via Socratic dialogue, believing that insight into the heart of things will enable students to grow in wisdom and virtue." -CiRCE Institute
LCA is an academic homeschool co-op established to fulfill the purpose of assisting families in educating their students in a diligent classical Christian curriculum, to serve and grow together in a Christian community, and to provide students with a solid foundation with a Christian worldview.
While an individual family may choose to add other curriculum to their school week at home, please know that it is required for each student to have the specific curriculum chosen for LCA to provide continuity and growth of class discussion and presentation time.
We are united by our devotion to God, family, and country. We strive to teach our children the commandments and truths contained in the Holy Scriptures, so that they will strive all their lives to serve God. And because of their devotion to Him, be a great blessing to their fellowmen and their country. We seek to support and encourage each other as we strive to fulfill our God-given responsibility to teach our children. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, of good report, or praiseworthy, we seek after these things (Philippians 4:8).
